Chi Alpha is a Christian student organization at UL which began in 1970 at then USL. The group began when traveling evangelists Mike & Roxanne Michaelson from California spoke at an area church. A member of the USL swim team, who was injured, attended the church and after being prayed for was healed!  Needless to say the student and his friends were very excited and they strongly encouraged the evangelists Mike & Roxanne Michaelson to stay and start the Chi Alpha group.  The Michaelson's directed the ministry for 5 years.  The group was student led until 1980 when Kyle & Donna Key served as full time campus pastors until 1984.  The group had various part time directors and student leaders.

Eric & Anabelle Treuil came in 1987 to re-pioneer the group starting with three students.  Over the years Chi Alpha has grown to one of the largest student organizations on campus. The group acquired the Chi Alpha House and dorm in 1993 (Miracle on St Mary - $90,000 in 90 days!) and Cafe Chi Alpha in 2003.  There was also an addition to Cafe Chi Alpha in 2011 along with the addition of the Charles Tillman Arena.   The goal has remained the same: to reach students at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette for the cause of Christ.

Cole & Megan Lusby have served as campus pastors from 2018 - 2023 and did an exceptional job pastoring the group through a very difficult time the year 2020! They are currently living and working in the Lafayette area.

Eric & Anabelle Treuil are currently serving as the campus pastors.

Chi Alpha is a part of a national movement of student groups across the world. You can go to www.ChiAlpha.com to find out more about the national organization.
